Great turnout in support of Sandy Bay Road Cycleway
Thanks to all the riders who took part in the Bike Tas ride along Sandy Bay Road. The Sandy Bay Walking and Cycling Project is a significant part of the proposed Hobart bicycle network. It’s important Hobart Council gets it right and builds infrastructure that provides real improvement in conditions for bike riders and pedestrians.
The pack was lead by Bicycle Tasmania’s Ride2Work ambassador, Brian Ritchie, and included several aldermen and Minister Nick McKim. The route taken was the usual for some bike commuters: up Napolean St and the wrong way through Marine Terrace. Ald Thomas was heard to comment on the poor quality road surface, so we need to work on getting all councillors to try the roads on two wheels.
