Ins and outs at the AGM

The New Sydney Hotel morphed into Oslo International Airport at last month’s AGM, as Greg Dutkowski “landed” with two large bags, and while wonderful images of his Norwegian cycle tour played on the screen, he unpacked and assembled his touring outfit.

As well as providing fine entertainment, Greg was also a star of the review of 2011-12 because of his tremendous work behind the scenes on the Hobart Bike Count. The President’s annual report is available online  http://www.biketas.org.au/whats-happening/announcements/presidentsannualreport

Facilities Development Manager, Emma Pharo, gave us a whirlwind review of the huge span of work she has tackled in her 7 months on the job, and a preview of the exciting projects ahead. It was an opportunity for members to appreciate how fortunate we are to have gained such an intelligent, articulate and winning advocate.

The meeting marked the end of Andy Semmler’s many years as Treasurer. He was also Social Rides Coordinator until his family outgrew these rides. Andy still expects to be on the team when our big rides come around, so we will continue to benefit from his cheerful and calm assistance.

The organisation expressed its appreciation for the contributions of outgoing committee members Malcolm Tyler, Richard Nicholls, Keith Price, Greg Dutkowski and Dorothy McCartney. They have been a significant part of a fine committee, and each has used their unique skills to make it a great year for Bicycle Tasmania.

We congratulate Patsy Jones on appointment as our new Treasurer, and welcome Di Elliffe and Daniel Panek  to the committee. Dan Teague has stepped up to the role of Web Manager. Staying on are Ambrose Canning (Vice President), Austin Greenwood (Secretary), Richard Muir-Wilson (NW rep), Kathleen Mohr (committee, graphics) and Jeff Dunn (President & eNews editor). A list of contacts can be found at  http://www.biketas.org.au/about-us/contact

The positions remaining vacant are Family and Social Rides Coordinator, Valet Parking Coordinator, and there are unfilled general committee and regional representative positions. Please get in touch if you might be able to help out, or just turn up to a monthly meeting and see what you think. The next meeting is at 6pm, Thursday 20th Sep, 6 Rupara Ave, West Hobart.
